Balfour Beatty has another splendid opportunity for an Assistant Package Manager – FIT OUT to join our amazing Major Projects team to work at our iconic Old Oak Common station development in North-West London.
HS2’s new c. £1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK’s best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.
Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide high speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.
What you'll be doing
Review drawings, specifications, models and technical requirements, and monitor
construction works for compliance.
- Coordinate RFIs, technical queries and design information, maintaining trackers and
supporting timely close-out.
- Support the resolution of construction-related issues by developing practical options
and escalating decisions outside delegated authority.
- Coordinate interfaces with other fit-out packages, MEPH, lifts, escalators, logistics and
access requirements.
- Support the Package Manager and take ownership of delegated package activities,
ensuring actions are completed and risks are promptly escalated.
- Work collaboratively with the fit-out team, support functions and supply chain partners
to achieve package objectives.
- Coordinate the day-to-day activities of subcontractors and support effective onboarding, briefings and communication.
Who we're looking for
Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building or a equivalent
discipline.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card appropriate to the role.
- Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), or a commitment to obtain the required qualification within an agreed timeframe.
- Working knowledge of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, permits and common construction control processes
- Able to interpret construction drawings, specifications and models, and apply them to
site delivery.
- Working knowledge of construction methods, sequencing and interfaces relevant to
architectural fit-out.
- Able to coordinate technical information, design queries and construction issue
resolution.
- Basic understanding of temporary works, permits and technical assurance
requirements.
