Attendance Officer
Full Time | Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Start Date: Immediately/ASAP
Salary: £16.73 to £19 per hour depending on candidate
We are looking for a proactive and organised Attendance Officer to support the school in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality. The successful candidate will work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and leadership teams to monitor attendance, support families, and help remove barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor daily attendance and punctuality across the school
- Follow up on unexplained absences in line with school procedures
- Maintain accurate attendance records using Bromcom/SIMS or similar MIS systems
- Produce attendance reports and identify attendance trends or concerns
- Build positive relationships with parents/carers to improve attendance
- Support meetings, interventions, and home visits for pupils with persistent absence
- Work closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding teams, and external agencies
- Ensure compliance with statutory attendance requirements and safeguarding procedures
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience in a school attendance or administrative role
- Experience using Bromcom, SIMS, or other school MIS systems
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- The ability to manage sensitive information confidentially
- A proactive, professional, and supportive approach when working with pupils and families
- An understanding of safeguarding and attendance procedures within schools
An enhanced DBS check and safeguarding checks will be required for the successful candidate.
Pay: £16.73-£19.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Rayleigh, Essex: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
