We are recruiting a passionate Head Chef to lead our team at The Wentworth Arms. Applicants must be hands on, passionate about food, ambitious and organised.
The successful candidate will have responsibility over the day to day operation of the kitchen and kitchen team and work with the support of our Executive Chef on menu planning and the more strategic elements of kitchen operations. This is an ideal placement for someone who is a passionate and experienced Head Chef.
There are two elements to The Wentworth's food service, one being the 5 day per week bar service where the vibe is very much relaxed, casual, trendy food. Homemade pizzas, mega tasty burgers and sharing platters. The second being the food for our 80 person event/function space all of which is preplanned but needs fabulous organisation, presentation and execution.
This position requires strong leadership abilities, excellent culinary skills, and a commitment to maintaining a positive team environment.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safety practices.
- Establish recipes and spec sheets for dishes (including costs and allergy information).
- Prepare and cook dishes according to recipes and spec sheets.
- Ensure that all food is prepared in a timely manner while maintaining quality and presentation.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the Executive chef and GM to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Head Chef/Senior Sous Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentation standards.
- Highly organised.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools, along with basic maintenance knowledge.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
- A passion for cooking fun and interesting food and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
- Working week is typically 42 hours Wednesday to Sunday.
