Our main goal is to provide all customers with great service and same day despatch, whether it’s a single product or a whole pallet load of books. As a Despatch Assistant, you’ll pick and pack customer orders, so accuracy is a top priority (happy customers buy more books!).
We put 100% effort into making sure that every process in our Millom warehouse is really slick and that’s why we only employ the best people. We have high expectations of everyone at CGP, so you’ll need to have a great work ethic, be flexible and have lots of energy (you’ll be on your feet all day after all!). You’ll also need to be:
- Bright and jolly
- Great in a team
- Numerate and literate
- Happy and willing to learn new things
We’re looking for positive people who want to work part time but are happy to increase hours at busy times, so if this sounds like you, we’d love you to get in touch!
In return for your hard work, you’ll enjoy a great working environment and receive lovely benefits (free membership of our Leisure and Golf Club, a generous healthcare cash back plan, an attractive pension... and free sausages on your birthday!).
Based at our Millom site, you’ll be part of the Despatch and Production Team, picking and packing books to fulfil customer orders. Orders can vary greatly from a single book requested by a parent to several boxes / pallet loads sent daily to our school and retail customers. But the promise is the same – all orders placed before 5pm will be despatched same day. At times, this area can be extremely busy and you’ll need a good eye for detail to make sure that all orders are picked quickly and accurately.
As well as picking and packing books, you’ll help get the lorry loaded with orders ready to be delivered to our customers. You’ll also work within the production area, assisting with a variety of tasks including multi-packing, packaging practice papers and mailshot work. It’s absolutely essential that you’re jolly, enthusiastic and willing to do whatever’s needed.
You’ll be bright and positive with a keen eye for detail. You’ll also be highly self-motivated with the ability and drive to make sure your work is completed to the highest standard. It’s a bonus if you have some admin experience already or maybe even a Forklift Truck licence but it’s not essential for the role.
CGP are known for our quirky products, but we’re a serious (and very successful) business. This largely comes down to the fantastic people we employ so we have high expectations. As a CGP employee, you can expect honest and respectful feedback on your performance — and we’d expect you to raise any concerns constructively too.
Email us your CV with a covering note telling us why you’d love to join our Millom Despatch team.
We’ll be holding our first on-site taster evening for shortlisted candidates in early August, so it’s time to get cracking.
