About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable SEN Support Worker to support two young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Bury St Edmunds, IP32.
This role involves working alongside a Tutor to support the young learners in accessing education in a way that meets their individual needs at home. You will help promote engagement, emotional regulation, confidence, independence and well-being.

Our support workers help learners build confidence, re-engage with education and achieve their potential through consistent, child-centred support.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide tailored support to young people with SEN
- Support learning, engagement and emotional regulation during sessions
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with the learners
- Implement strategies set out in EHCPs, support plans or individual learning plans
- Work collaboratively with tutors, parents/carers and other professionals
- Promote independence, confidence and wellbeing
- Support with personal care responsibilities where required
- Maintain clear and professional records of sessions and progress
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns appropriately
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (paid or voluntary)
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Ability to support learners with emotional regulation and challenging behaviour
- Ability to work collaboratively with tutors, families and professionals
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience as an SEN Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, or Care Worker
- Training in First Aid, Autism, Positive Handling, ADHD, SEMH, or Behaviour Support
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £18.00-£25.00 per hour
