About the Role
OMNI Transport is looking for a caring and reliable Chaperone (Passenger Escort) to support children and young people—many with Special Educational Needs (SEN)—during their home-to-school journeys in and around Salisbury, Wiltshire.
You will travel alongside the driver, ensuring passengers are safe, comfortable and well supported from pick-up to drop-off. This is a term-time, part-time role with morning and afternoon shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Meet children at their home or designated pick-up point and escort them safely to and from the vehicle.
Support passengers with boarding, alighting, seatbelts, harnesses, wheelchairs and any specialist equipment as required.
Provide calm, reassuring support throughout the journey, managing behaviour and individual needs in line with care plans and risk assessments.
Work closely with the driver, parents/carers, schools and our transport coordinators to ensure smooth, timely journeys.
Follow safeguarding, health and safety and confidentiality procedures at all times.
Report any incidents, concerns or changes in a passenger’s needs to the office promptly.
Essentials
- Enhanced DBS certificate
- Right to work in the UK.
- Based in or near Salisbury, Wiltshire, with good local knowledge.
- Punctual, patient and confident working with vulnerable children and young people
Desirable (but not essential)
- Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEN (school, care, mentoring or similar roles)
- Safeguarding training.
- First Aid training.
