Bar Person Job Description
1. Daily Operations
- Prepare the bar for service and ensure it is open and ready for customers during published opening hours.
- Provide a friendly, professional and efficient bar service to members and guests.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment throughout each shift.
- At the end of each shift, ensure the bar, office, kitchen and toilets are left clean and tidy, including:
- Clearing away all food and drink.
- Washing and putting away glasses.
- Emptying bins.
- Cleaning bar surfaces and equipment.
- Leaving the kitchen and bar areas in a clean and presentable condition.
- Report any equipment faults or maintenance issues to the Bar Manager or House Committee Chairman.
- Assist with setting up and supporting club functions and events as required.
2. Customer Service
- Deliver prompt, courteous and attentive service at all times.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for members and visitors.
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve minor issues professionally, referring more serious matters to the Bar Manager or House Committee Chairman where appropriate.
- Promote responsible alcohol service and maintain high standards of customer care.
3. Cash Handling
- Accurately operate the till and process customer payments.
- Balance the till and complete cash reconciliation at the end of each shift.
- Follow the club's cash handling procedures and report any discrepancies immediately.
4. Stock Management
- Monitor stock levels during shifts and advise the Bar Manager when supplies are running low.
- Assist with receiving, storing and rotating stock.
- Help keep cellar, bar and storage areas clean, organised and secure.
- Minimise waste and report any damaged or missing stock.
5. Health, Safety and Compliance
- Comply with all club policies and relevant health and safety legislation.
- Follow food hygiene and cleaning procedures where applicable.
- Ensure alcohol is served responsibly, including checking identification where required and refusing service to intoxicated individuals in accordance with licensing laws.
- Report any accidents, hazards or incidents promptly.
6. Teamwork
- Work cooperatively with colleagues to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Assist in training new team members when requested.
- Be flexible in supporting club events and covering shifts where reasonably required.
Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
