Information Access Officer
Do you enjoy combining analytical thinking with outstanding customer service? Are you passionate about transparency, data protection and helping people access the information they need?
We're looking for two Information Access Officers to join our expanding team, playing a pivotal role in protecting information, supporting public trust and helping the Council meet its legal responsibilities.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll manage and coordinate requests made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act whilst working closely with services across a large and complex organisation.
You'll investigate information requests, analyse data, interpret legislation and provide clear, practical advice to colleagues and customers. It's the perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing technical problem-solving with delivering an excellent service experience.
About You
You're someone who thrives on getting into the detail while never losing sight of the people behind the process.
You may already be working in Information Governance, Information Rights, Data Protection or a similar field and have experience handling information requests in a public sector environment.
You understand the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and good judgement when managing sensitive information.
We're looking for someone who can:
Interpret and apply information rights legislation with confidence.
Analyse complex information and make balanced, evidence-based decisions.
Build positive relationships with colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
Communicate clearly, professionally and empathetically, even when dealing with challenging situations.
Prioritise competing demands and consistently meet statutory deadlines.
Champion best practice and continuous improvement.
Most importantly, you'll bring a customer-focused mindset, a keen eye for detail and a genuine commitment to openness, accountability and excellent public service.
