The West Hants Club is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused Bar & Catering Assistant to join our Hospitality Team.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will help deliver exceptional service to our members and guests across our bar, restaurant and catering operations. You will be part of a supportive team, ensuring every customer enjoys a welcoming and enjoyable experience.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Provide a warm and professional welcome to members and guests.
- Take and serve food and drink orders efficiently and accurately.
- Respond to customer enquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
Bar Operations
- Prepare and serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation within the bar area.
- Replenish stock and assist with stock control as required.
- Comply with all licensing regulations and health and safety requirements.
- Clear and clean tables, chairs and surfaces.
- Monitor and maintain glassware supplies, including operating the glass washer.
Catering Support
- Serve food to members and guests in accordance with service standards.
- Assist with the set-up and breakdown of events, buffets and functions.
- Ensure food and beverages are presented and served to the highest hygiene and quality standards.
Cash Handling
- Process cash and card transactions accurately.
- Balance tills and maintain accurate sales records at the end of each shift.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Keep all bar and catering areas clean, safe and well-presented.
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
- Report equipment faults and maintenance issues to the appropriate manager.
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Assist with the induction and training of new team members where required.
- Contribute positively to team meetings and departmental initiatives.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience within a bar, restaurant, hospitality or catering environment (preferred but not essential).
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Enjoys working as part of a team.
- Can remain calm and organised in a busy environment.
- Is reliable, flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
