Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to support teaching staff across various classrooms. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a positive learning environment, supervising students, and ensuring continuity of lessons in the absence of the class teacher. Duties
- Supervise classes during lessons, ensuring students remain engaged and on task
- Support students with special educational needs, including individuals with autism or other disabilities
- Assist with classroom management and behaviour regulation to promote a safe learning environment
- Implement planned activities and provide support as directed by the teaching staff
- Foster positive relationships with students through mentoring, tutoring, and creative writing activities
- Facilitate inclusive learning by adapting activities to meet diverse student needs
- Support teachers in preparing resources and setting up classroom environments for lessons
- Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teaching staff as required
- Promote effective communication between students and staff to enhance learning outcomes
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or in educational settings is desirable
- Knowledge of special education needs and working with individuals with disabilities or autism is advantageous
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with students and colleagues
- Ability to adapt teaching methods creatively, including creative writing techniques, to support diverse learners
- Previous experience in tutoring or mentoring roles is beneficial but not essential
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage behaviour constructively in a classroom environment
- Passionate about supporting student development and fostering inclusive learning environments
