Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Large Forklift Fitter to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining large forklifts and heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly by providing expert mechanical and electrical support, utilizing your fabrication, welding, and schematic reading skills. Duties
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on large forklifts, excavators, and other heavy machinery
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and technical manuals
- Conduct repairs including welding, fabrication, soldering, and assembly of parts as needed
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to repair or replace faulty components
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update service logs regularly
- Assist with equipment upgrades or modifications to improve safety and efficiency
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status clearly to team members and operators
Requirements
- Proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance, especially with forklifts and excavators
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience for troubleshooting complex systems
- Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and working with schematics for precise repairs
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for assembly and repair tasks
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks consistently
- Knowledge of electrical systems related to heavy machinery is highly desirable
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to equipment maintenance
