Waking Watch Marshal - Roaming
Location: Thanet District
The Role:
We are seeking diligent and proactive Marshals to join our current Roaming Waking Watch safety team. As a Roaming Waking Watch Marshal, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security by implementing fire safety measures and protocols. This vital role helps ensure the building environment remains safe and compliant, providing reassurance and protection for all residents. The role operates over several locations and driving is essential for this role.
Hours: 12 hour shifts Nights 19:00 - 07:00 4 on 4 off shift pattern
Rate of pay: £13.12 per hour.
Contract: Permanent
Duties will include:
- Day to day the marshal has responsibilities to make sure the building environment is safe in case of a fire.
- Travelling between set locations in the Thanet area
- Continuously patrol their designated storeys / routes throughout their shift (except during defined rest periods) Check that Fire Doors and Fire Exits are closed, clear, unlocked and ready for use.
- Check that all escape routes are safe, unblocked and clear.
- Check that Fire extinguishers are sealed and in the correct locations.
- Check that there are fire safety signs clearly in position
- Check that Fire alarms are clear and unobstructed.
- Remove any combustible materials that at incorrectly stored.
- Maintain and update the data app with checks and waypoints as required
- Faulty emergency lighting must be reported.
- Engaging with residents and community support activities
Person Specific Required
- Fire prevention and safety awareness and understanding
- Good communications skills
- Personal qualities – proactive, self-starter, good time management and task prioritization,
- Reliable, dependable, trustworthy, diligent, empathic, responsible, personable
- IT literate (apps/mobile telephone/handheld 2-way radios)
- Enhanced DBS (paid by the employer)
Desirable:
- Fire Service, Police or Military background
- Fire Service experience & training.
- Recognised Fire Safety qualification
Essential Experience required:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- GCSE (or equivalent) English and Mathematics at Grade C or above Desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence and vehicle (car as you will work in pairs) is essential for this role. (fuel allowance paid)
