About the Role
Thrust Warehouse and Distribution Services is looking for an organised, detail-focused and operations-driven Fulfilment Operations Specialist to support the accurate and efficient movement of customer orders through warehouse and distribution processes.
The successful candidate will coordinate order fulfilment activities from receipt through picking, packing, dispatch and final handover to transport providers. You will work closely with warehouse teams, inventory staff, customer service colleagues and transport partners to ensure orders are processed accurately, stock records remain reliable and service targets are consistently achieved.
This role is suitable for someone with experience in warehousing, fulfilment, logistics, inventory control or distribution operations who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Order Fulfilment: Coordinate customer orders from initial release through picking, packing and dispatch.
Order Monitoring: Track active orders and identify potential delays or operational issues.
Picking Coordination: Support warehouse teams in prioritising picking activity based on deadlines and service requirements.
Packing Standards: Ensure orders are packed accurately and according to agreed handling requirements.
Dispatch Preparation: Coordinate completed orders for transfer to transport and delivery partners.
Order Accuracy: Review fulfilment information to reduce picking, packing and shipping errors.
Inventory Verification: Confirm stock availability before orders are released for processing.
Stock Allocation: Support appropriate allocation of inventory to customer orders.
Shortage Management: Identify stock shortages and communicate potential impacts to relevant teams.
Backorder Monitoring: Track outstanding orders and coordinate fulfilment when stock becomes available.
Warehouse Systems: Maintain accurate order and fulfilment information within warehouse management systems.
System Updates: Ensure order status information is updated promptly throughout the fulfilment process.
Inventory Accuracy: Support regular checks to maintain reliable inventory records.
Stock Discrepancies: Investigate differences between physical stock and system records.
Goods Handling: Support appropriate handling of products throughout warehouse operations.
Inbound Coordination: Communicate with receiving teams regarding incoming stock required for customer orders.
Outbound Coordination: Coordinate outbound shipments according to carrier and customer deadlines.
Carrier Handover: Ensure shipments are prepared correctly for collection by transport providers.
Shipping Documentation: Prepare or verify relevant dispatch and shipping documentation.
Delivery Tracking: Monitor dispatched orders and investigate significant delivery issues.
Returns Coordination: Support processing of returned products and update inventory records accordingly.
Damaged Goods: Record and escalate damaged stock identified during fulfilment activity.
Customer Requirements: Review special handling, packing or delivery instructions.
Priority Orders: Coordinate urgent or time-sensitive customer requirements.
Service Levels: Monitor fulfilment activity against agreed service standards.
Daily Planning: Support daily warehouse workload and fulfilment planning.
Order Volume Analysis: Monitor incoming order volumes and identify periods requiring additional resources.
Resource Coordination: Work with warehouse supervisors to align staffing with fulfilment demand.
Workflow Monitoring: Track order movement through different stages of warehouse operations.
Bottleneck Identification: Identify process areas that are slowing order completion.
Issue Resolution: Work with relevant teams to resolve fulfilment problems quickly.
Quality Checks: Conduct routine checks on completed orders before dispatch.
Packaging Materials: Monitor availability of cartons, labels and other fulfilment supplies.
Labelling: Ensure shipping and product labels are accurate and correctly applied.
Documentation: Maintain organised fulfilment, inventory and dispatch records.
KPI Monitoring: Track order accuracy, fulfilment time, dispatch performance and other operational indicators.
Performance Reporting: Prepare regular fulfilment and warehouse performance updates.
Data Analysis: Review fulfilment data to identify recurring operational issues.
Process Improvement: Recommend practical changes to improve order accuracy and efficiency.
Customer Service Coordination: Provide customer service teams with accurate order-status information.
Transport Coordination: Communicate with logistics teams regarding collection schedules and delivery requirements.
Warehouse Communication: Maintain clear communication between fulfilment, inventory and dispatch teams.
Health and Safety: Follow relevant warehouse safety and manual-handling procedures.
Compliance: Support adherence to internal warehouse and distribution procedures.
Peak Planning: Assist with preparation for high-volume or seasonal fulfilment periods.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improvements in warehouse productivity, order accuracy and customer service.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Previous experience in warehouse operations, fulfilment, logistics, distribution or inventory control.
Order Processing: Practical understanding of warehouse order fulfilment from picking through dispatch.
Inventory Awareness: Good understanding of stock accuracy and inventory-control principles.
Warehouse Systems: Familiarity with warehouse management, inventory or ERP systems would be advantageous.
Operational Planning: Ability to prioritise orders and coordinate activity against deadlines.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on order accuracy, documentation and product handling.
Organisation: Good planning and time-management skills.
Problem Solving: Ability to investigate fulfilment issues and identify practical solutions.
