Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Additional Needs Assistant to join our early childhood education team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support young children's development within a nurturing environment. The successful candidate will provide one to one assistance for a child identified with additional needs. The candidate will also assist in organising engaging activities, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children, and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. Previous nursery or childcare experience is advantageous, along with a passion for working with children. The position is paid and suitable for individuals looking to contribute to early childhood development on a part-time basis.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of age-appropriate activities and play sessions for children in the playgroup
- Assist in supervising children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety at all times
- Help maintain a clean, organised, and stimulating environment conducive to learning and exploration
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members to promote a positive experience
- Support behavioural management strategies in line with nursery policies
- Assist with daily routines such as snack times, nappy changing, and rest periods
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of educational programmes under supervision
- Support the management team in maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations
Requirements
- Experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is preferred
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and child development stages
- Level 2 Childcare qualification
- Child Protection Training
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- A caring attitude with genuine enthusiasm for working with young children
- Maintain accurate records on key children
