About the role:
As the Assistant Fixed Asset Accountant, you will play a key role in managing the fixed asset processes, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of asset records.
Reporting to the Fixed Asset Accountant, you will validate purchase orders (POs) to ensure alignment with the company’s capital expenditure (CapEx) policy, monitor the fixed asset register, and support asset accounting processes such as depreciation and impairment reviews. This role also involves handling asset disposals when sites close and ensuring assets are correctly accounted for throughout their lifecycle.
What you’ll do:

Review and validate purchase orders pre-approval to ensure compliance with the company’s CapEx policy and alignment with asset classification criteria.

Maintain and monitor the fixed asset register, ensuring it is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with accounting standards.

Process the disposal of assets when sites close, ensuring accurate recording and compliance with internal policies.

Validate that all fixed assets are correctly accounted for, including classification, valuation, and documentation.

Assist in the preparation and review of depreciation schedules, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Support the review and processing of asset impairments, ensuring adjustments are accurately reflected in the financial records.

Ensure all fixed asset processes adhere to internal controls and external regulatory requirements.

Work closely with the Fixed Asset Accountant and other finance teams to support accurate reporting and seamless operations.

Provide support for ad hoc queries, reports, and projects related to fixed assets as requested by the Fixed Asset Accountant or management.

What we are looking for:

AAT qualification or working towards an accountancy qualification (e.g., ACCA/CIMA/ACA)

Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within fixed assets or CapEx.

Understanding of fixed asset accounting, including depreciation, impairments and disposals.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Experience using financial systems and asset registers; Microsoft Dynamics 365 desirable.
