Suction Excavator Hire Limited is a leader in suction excavator hire services, committed to operational excellence, safety, and innovation. We are seeking a highly motivated Field Support Manager to support our Operations Manager and oversee critical aspects of compliance, operations and continuous improvement across our business.
Key Responsibilities:
This role includes, but is not limited to:
- Cover daily operations as and when required.
Site Support
- Conduct daily site visits across the South.
- Daily random audits.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and customer requirements.
- Be available for on-site support when something breaks or additional kit is required.
- Build positive relationships with site managers and the gas gangs.
- Identify opportunities when on site for further work (use of Brokk)
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Carry out PPE inspections in the yard and issue PPE to operatives when needed.
- Monitor compliance with our RAMS and safe systems of work.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and safety concerns.
- Ensure vehicles, equipment remain compliant and that the lads are maintaining their own kit (breakers, clay spades, air lances, etc).
- Support and mentor teams to foster a culture of accountability and adherence to SHEQ standards.
Yard & Fleet Management
- Manage stock levels of PPE, consumables and equipment.
- Carry out regular stock takes.
- Maintain stores and ensure equipment is correctly allocated.
Business Development
- Visit existing clients to maintain relationships.
- Introduce the business to new construction sites when out on the road, if they drive past a gang or site we don't work with drop a card or brochure in.
- Report leads and quotation opportunities to myself.
Company Expectations
- Lives within a reasonable commuting distance of Portsmouth.
- Be firm but fair with operatives and customers.
- Organised, proactive and capable of using their own initiative.
- Flexible to travel throughout the South and occasionally further afield.
- Construction or utility industry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Vac Ex operations would be a significant advantage
Compensation:
- £40,000 - £45,000 Yearly Salary
- Company vehicle provided

- Accommodation booked and paid by the company if required (plus subsistence)
- All training paid by the company
