Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and technically minded Technical Sales Engineer to join our team. This is a varied role combining technical knowledge, customer service, sales support, and production coordination. The successful candidate will work closely with both new and existing customers, prepare accurate quotations, support the production process, and assist with a wide range of day-to-day business activities.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building customer relationships, solving technical challenges, and working within a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Respond to customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Prepare accurate quotations and cost estimates based on customer requirements.
- Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and technical information.
- Produce and review production packs, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete before release to production.
- Liaise with production teams to ensure customer requirements are clearly communicated.
- Resolve customer and production-related issues efficiently and professionally.
- Provide technical advice and support throughout the sales and manufacturing process.
- Monitor project progress and communicate updates to customers where required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to meet customer expectations.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities to improve processes.
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role, supporting the wider business as required.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a technical sales, estimating, or engineering environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good problem-solving abilities and a practical approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks.
Desirable
- Experience within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
- Knowledge of estimating and production planning processes.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- An engineering qualification or relevant technical background.
