This is an exciting opportunity to combine practical woodworking expertise with a person-centred approach. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day running of our workshop, deliver joinery and woodworking instruction, support attendees with a range of needs and learning styles, and supervise a small team of volunteers.
The role will also involve leading customer work and the production of items for our established social enterprise, which includes furniture repair and restoration and the production of handmade gifts and decorative items.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in woodworking and joinery, including the use and maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment. Experience of delivering group activities or training, working with vulnerable adults, and supporting people with mental health needs is essential. Experience of CNC and/or laser-cutting equipment and computer design packages would be desirable. Full training will be given to the successful candidate.
We are looking for someone who is friendly, empathetic, organised and adaptable, with excellent communication skills and a positive, non-judgemental approach. Support and training will be provided where necessary, and applications are welcomed from people from all backgrounds. A Note About Applications
We understand that AI tools can be useful when preparing a job application, but we ask that if applicants wish to use them, to do so sparingly. Our recruitment process is about getting to know you as a person, not just reading a perfectly polished cover letter.
Please use your own words to tell us about your experience, your approach to supporting others, and why you would like to work with St Margaret’s Centre. We are interested in the experience, qualities, values and perspective that you would bring to the role – these things matter to us more than grammar and sentence structure.
