Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals in various settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home care environments. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing, safety, and independence of clients with diverse needs, including those requiring specialised dementia or Alzheimer's care. Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised patient care, including assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility support
- Assist with medication administration in accordance with prescribed schedules and protocols
- Support clients with meal preparation and feeding as needed, ensuring nutritional requirements are met
- Provide behaviour management strategies for individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Support clients with mobility, including heavy lifting when necessary, using proper techniques to ensure safety
- Drive clients to appointments or outings when required, maintaining safe driving practices
- Monitor health status and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals promptly
- Offer emotional support and companionship to promote mental wellbeing
- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including first aid procedures when necessary
Qualifications
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home care, or home care environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, hospice care, and senior care best practices
- Relevant qualifications such as first aid certification are advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively when required
- Valid driving licence is preferred for transportation duties
- Strong communication skills and a caring demeanour
- Ability to handle behavioural challenges with patience and professionalism
- Flexibility to work shifts that may include evenings or weekends if needed
