About the Role
We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Cook/Chef to join our small, friendly care home in West Wales.
You will be responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious and appetising meals for our 15 residents, taking into account individual dietary requirements, allergies, preferences and nutritional needs.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking and takes pride in preparing good-quality, home-style food in a warm and caring environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents.
- Plan simple, varied and appealing menus suitable for older people.
- Cater for individual dietary requirements, allergies, intolerances and special diets.
- Prepare meals that are appropriate for different dietary textures where required.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety.
- Ensure food is stored, prepared and served safely and in accordance with food hygiene requirements.
- Monitor food stocks and advise when supplies need replenishing.
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and well maintained.
- Work within the home's policies and procedures relating to food safety, infection control and resident wellbeing.
- Take pride in creating meals that residents enjoy and look forward to.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience cooking professionally or for a care setting, although relevant home-cooking experience may also be considered.
- Has a genuine interest in preparing nutritious, tasty and home-cooked food.
- Understands the importance of dietary requirements and food allergies.
- Is reliable, organised and able to work independently.
- Has good food hygiene and kitchen practices.
- Is friendly, patient and respectful towards older people.
- Takes pride in their work and has a caring approach.
- Is flexible and willing to work between 2 and 5 mornings per week, depending on suitability and availability.
