Make a meaningful difference every day
Our Reception team is at the heart of St Andrew’s Hospice. As the first point of contact for patients, families, visitors and staff, you’ll play a vital role in creating a warm, reassuring and compassionate welcome at what can be a very emotional time.
This is a busy and varied role supporting all areas of the Hospice, where you’ll help ensure Reception runs smoothly while delivering a professional and caring service. The role requires flexibility to work a range of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
What you will do:
You’ll welcome patients, families and visitors with kindness and sensitivity, recognising that each person’s situation is unique. You’ll manage calls, emails and messages with care and professionalism, ensuring people are supported and directed to the right place. Working closely with colleagues and volunteer Receptionists, you’ll help create a calm, organised and safe environment, while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Hospice through tasks such as room bookings, visitor processes and record-keeping.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who brings both professionalism and compassion to their work. You’ll have experience in a customer-facing role and be able to stay composed and organised, even when things are busy or emotionally challenging. You’ll be a confident communicator, able to connect with people from all walks of life with empathy, respect and understanding. You’ll also be comfortable using systems such as Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel, and have the flexibility and resilience to work in a hospice environment where sensitivity and kindness are essential.
What we can offer you:
Alongside the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives, we offer a supportive and rewarding environment with competitive pay and progression, generous leave, pension and life assurance, flexible working, paid Humber Bridge tolls, and a range of wellbeing, family-friendly and development benefits.
If you would like to discuss the role further or get a feel for the environment, you are warmly invited to arrange an informal visit to the Hospice.
