Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Cleaner/Laundry Assistant to join our care home team. This role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection prevention throughout the home, helping to provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. The position is ideal for individuals who are organised, reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality care and support through excellent housekeeping standards. Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided. Both part-time and full-time opportunities are available.
Responsibilities
- Carry out cleaning duties throughout the care home, including resident bedrooms, bathrooms, communal lounges, dining areas, corridors, offices, and other service areas, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.
- Assist with laundry duties, including sorting, washing, drying, ironing (where required), folding, and distributing residents' personal clothing, bedding, towels, and other linens.
- Ensure residents' clothing and laundry are handled with care and returned correctly.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, health and safety guidelines, and COSHH regulations at all times.
- Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely, ensuring they are maintained and stored correctly.
- Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies in resident rooms, bathrooms, and communal areas as required.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or damage promptly to the appropriate manager.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately after use.
- Treat residents with dignity, respect, and compassion, promoting their comfort and wellbeing while carrying out housekeeping duties.
Experience
- Previous experience in a cleaning, housekeeping, or laundry role is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Experience within a care home, healthcare, or residential setting is advantageous.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
- A caring, compassionate, and respectful approach when working around residents.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and the needs of the home.
