Student and Registry Services is one of the larger Professional Services divisions at UCL, providing essential services to UCL’s 50,000 students, 160,000 applicants and for supporting academic departments and administrative staff in delivering a high-quality student experience. Student Operations is responsible for the student record - its management and quality - as well as the principal functions supporting the student lifecycle (e.g. exams, timetabling, curriculum information). The directorate is also responsible for student statutory reporting to external stakeholders (e.g. HESA, OfS, GMC). In addition, much of the student data domain has data stewards within the Student Operations teams and so data governance and lifecycle management are key foundational activities that support Student and Registry Services (SRS) generally, as well as two Change and Digital Portfolios (Student Lifecycle and Education). The teams in Student Operations provide a range of supporting services in partnership with the Information Services Division (ISD) to maintain and improve student-related platforms. Student Operations teams are supported by the Change and Digital Portfolios which manage the various products where development (both continuous improvement and transformation) takes place.
Student Operations is responsible for providing services to all students throughout their time at UCL and for supporting academic departments and administrative staff in delivering a high quality student experience. We also play a key role in co-ordinating UCL’s governance processes and academic quality assurance operations. The post holder will be working in the Student Lifecycle Team responsible for the set up and maintenance of core records in Portico (SITS) that support the student lifecycle. The student lifecycle team is vital to ensuring that UCL’s obligations around its data integrity and management of academic standards are maintained as well as ensuring that student records, and students achievements are accurately recorded and reported. The successful candidate will have substantial experience working in UK Higher Education sector with excellent knowledge of the SITS student information system or other equivalent student records system. They will have great communication and interpersonal skills, developing good working relationships with colleagues in a team and throughout the institution. They will have a proactive approach, the ability to use initiative and problem solve whilst also being meticulous and organised. They will have experience of interpreting and advising on complex regulatory matters to enable support and guidance for all stakeholders. The post holder will be working in a Business Partnering model with Schools to ensure that they are fully supported in record creation, maintenance and implementation and adherence to the University’s regulations. The postholder is expected to focus on enrolment activities and would be expected to be on campus during the start of session period. In addition, the postholder will have direct line management responsibility for a team of staff including Senior Administrative Staff and Student Lifecycle Officers.
