Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Warrington Innovation Network for a Research Nurse or Clinical Research Practitioner (CRP) to join our PCN on a part-time basis.
As a Research Nurse/Clinical Research Practitioner, you will work within our multidisciplinary team to support and lead the delivery of research studies across our local population. You will contribute to participant recruitment, study visits, data collection, participant monitoring, and implementation of research protocols, ensuring the highest standards of quality, governance and participant care at all times.
The successful applicant will be highly organised, possess excellent communication and IT skills, be able to work independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate a proactive and flexible approach to research delivery.
This role would suit:
- A Registered Nurse with research experience in primary or secondary care.
- An experienced Clinical Research Practitioner or Research Practitioner.
- A healthcare, science or research professional seeking to develop a career in clinical research delivery.
Experience within primary care, chronic disease management, research delivery, clinical trials, or NIHR portfolio studies is desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities
Research Delivery
· Coordinate and deliver research studies in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory requirements and PCN policies.
· Identify, screen and recruit suitable participants into research studies.
· Obtain informed consent where appropriately trained, delegated and authorised.
· Undertake study visits, assessments and follow-up activities in accordance with study protocols.
· Collect, record and manage study data accurately and within required timescales.
· Monitor participant wellbeing and report any adverse events or concerns in line with study procedures.
· Ensure all study documentation is maintained, accurate and audit-ready.
· Support study monitoring visits, audits and inspections as required.
· Facilitate study close-down and archiving activities in accordance with sponsor requirements.
Clinical Responsibilities
· Deliver participant care safely and effectively throughout research participation.
· Undertake clinical assessments and procedures appropriate to competence, training and professional registration.
· Escalate any concerns regarding participant safety to the Principal Investigator or appropriate clinician.
· Work within professional codes of conduct, research governance standards and organisational policies.
· Maintain competence, knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
Communication and Relationship Management
· Develop effective working relationships with GP practices, research networks, community services and external study sponsors.
· Liaise with Principal Investigators, healthcare professionals and research teams to ensure smooth study delivery.
· Act as a source of advice and support regarding research studies for practice staff and stakeholders.
· Promote research opportunities to patients, healthcare professionals and partner organisations.
· Participate in meetings relevant to study delivery and service development.
· Community and Stakeholder Engagement
· Support the expansion of research activity into community-based settings, including care homes, social care services and voluntary sector organisations.
· Develop relationships with local stakeholders to increase awareness of research opportunities.
· Assist in identifying new research sites and opportunities to increase study recruitment.
· Promote patient and public involvement in research activities where appropriate.
Information Management
· Maintain accurate and contemporaneous study records.
· Update and manage research databases, including EDGE and other study management systems.
· Ensure compliance with GDPR, information governance and confidentiality requirements.
· Prepare study reports and provide information required for performance monitoring and invoicing.
Service Development
· Contribute to the development of research processes, standard operating procedures and local policies.
· Support the growth of research activity across the PCN.
· Assist with the identification and set-up of new research opportunities.
· Contribute to quality improvement initiatives relating to research delivery.
Professional Development
· Maintain Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
· Participate in appraisal, supervision and mandatory training.
· Maintain professional registration, accreditation or membership relevant to the role.
· Undertake continuing professional development to maintain and develop competencies.

Salary
Competitive, dependent on experience, qualifications and professional background. As this post is open to both Research Nurses and Clinical Research Practitioners, the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills, experience and scope of practice.
