Role Overview
Kolorcraft is seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our Site Services team, reporting directly to the Site Services Manager.
Working within a small team of two, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our five local sites, ensuring that buildings, facilities, and selected machinery are kept in a safe, efficient, and compliant condition. Day-to-day responsibilities will include carrying out building and yard repairs, responding to maintenance requests raised through our intranet reporting system, and undertaking small improvement projects within agreed budgets.
All work must be completed safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys problem-solving, and is keen to contribute ideas that improve our working environment and facilities.
Initially, you will work alongside the Site Services Manager to gain a full understanding of the role. As your experience develops, working hours may be adjusted to provide greater site coverage and support business needs. You will also deputise for the Site Services Manager during periods of absence, including liaising with and coordinating external contractors carrying out maintenance, servicing, and repair work.
The role includes a range of compliance-related responsibilities, including:
- Weekly fire alarm testing
- Monthly emergency lighting tests
- Monthly fire door inspections
- Water temperature monitoring
- Other statutory compliance checks as required
Engineering or maintenance experience would be advantageous, particularly in supporting the upkeep of older machinery. From time to time, the role will involve preparing areas for new equipment installations, including decorating, floor preparation, safety barrier installation, and general site improvements.
Whilst personal tools would be beneficial, a range of tools is available on site.
Essential Skills and Experience
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- Good carpentry skills, including fitting and repairing doors, frames, shelving, and general woodwork repairs.
- Good plumbing skills, including diagnosing and repairing leaks, taps, toilets, and carrying out minor installations.
- Experience of basic masonry work, including repairing damaged walls and making good after building repairs.
- Good painting and decorating skills.
- A full UK driving licence, as travel between sites and collection of supplies will be required.
- A practical, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Desirable Skills and Experience
The following skills would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Electrical maintenance experience, including replacement of lighting and sockets. An 18th Edition qualification would be desirable. Lockout/Tagout awareness is essential.
- FLT (Forklift Truck) licence.
- IPAF qualification for working at height. Training may be provided where required.
- Basic engineering skills, including hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, fabrication, or electrical maintenance.
- Experience carrying out preventative maintenance and servicing activities on machinery and equipment.
