We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Transport Supervisor to lead our transport operations with energy and precision. Key Accountabilities
- Supervise the daily activities of drivers.
- Plan and allocate vehicles, drivers and routes to meet operational requirements.
- Monitor vehicle utilisation and maximise fleet efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with:
- Drivers' Hours Regulations
- Working Time Directive (Road Transport)
- Tachograph legislation
- Operator licence undertakings
- Road Traffic legislation
- Health and Safety requirements
- Review driver tachograph records, address infringements and trends or patterns emerging.
- Ensure daily vehicle defect reporting procedures are followed.
- Liaise with the maintenance providers to schedule vehicle maintenance, MOTs and inspections.
- Monitor vehicle availability and minimise downtime.
- Investigate vehicle defects, incidents and accidents.
- Ensure loads are planned and secured in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
- Communicate with customers regarding delivery schedules and service issues.
- Maintain transport records and operational documentation.
- Monitor transport KPIs including:
- On-time delivery
- Vehicle utilisation
- Driver performance
- Fuel consumption
- Defect reportingCompliance performance
- Support recruitment, induction and training of drivers.
- Ensure drivers continue to hold the correct licences and Driver Qualification Cards (DQCs).
- Carry out driver performance reviews and return-to-work interviews where appropriate.
- Assist with transport budgets and cost control.
- Participate in out-of-hours support or on-call duties where required.
- Promote a strong transport compliance culture.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Experience supervising drivers or transport operations.
- Good knowledge of UK road transport legislation.
- Understanding of drivers' hours and tachograph rules.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport management systems.
- Experience within general haulage, pallet networks or distribution operations.
