The Trust is seeking a Specialty Doctor to join the friendly and experienced South Wiltshire Dementia Service. This is an established post which has become vacant due to the current incumbent leaving. It is a great opportunity to gain a great deal of experience and knowledge working within an established multi-disciplinary team. Working with a team who believe in collaborative work and have the patient at the centre of their practise. The service provides a secondary assessment facility and a monitoring service for those who require maintenance prescribing on memory enhancers that cannot be prescribed within primary care. This post will provide support and clinical assistance to the Consultant Psychiatrist concerning the care of patients. Salisbury has a weekly Academic programme. In addition, there is a monthly PDP group and Peer Supervision. CPD activities are supported. The post offers study leave arrangements as well as good research, service development and leadership opportunities. The post-holder will be well supported by Consultant Psychiatrist, Team Manager and Community Services Manager.

The prime responsibility of the post-holder is to provide support and clinical assistance to the Consultant Psychiatrist concerning the care of patients. To assess and treat service users in the community and in a clinic. The Specialty Doctor will support the Consultant Psychiatrists in complex case management. To arrange and participate in CPA meetings for service users. Undertake urgent and routine psychiatric assessments when necessary Write up all their notes using the Trusts Electronic Record system RIO which also records time and date of entry. The post holder is personally responsible for entering their notes onto the system themselves. Ensure effective and timely documentation and communication of clinical decision making and management plans To liaise with GPs regarding a service users medical monitoring results To liaise with other parts of the service and GPs and non NHS organisations wherever applicable; to provide advice and consultation to members of the multi-disciplinary teams and regularly attend weekly MDT meetings
