Help us grow!
Avalon is a rapidly growing parking technology and management business based in Sevenoaks, bringing parking into the 21st Century. We work with organisations across the UK, using technology to make their car parks work better for them and for the people who use them.
We're a team of ten, looking for a dynamic person to be our first full time marketing hire, which means you'll quickly get to know the whole business. You'll work closely with our founding directors, with support from our part-time CMO, and have plenty of scope to influence what we do, take ownership and make a real difference in an environment where your ideas and initiatives truly matter.
We're looking for a Marketing Manager to take responsibility for our marketing and help us find our next customers, look after our existing ones and keep our drivers happy.
You’ve built a strong foundation in marketing and are now looking for a role with more ownership. If you're eager to progress and want to use what you’ve learned to shape the direction of our brand, this is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact and start taking ownership of the marketing function.
We don't expect you to arrive knowing everything or be able to do everything at once. We do expect you to be resourceful, interested in how businesses grow and confident in getting on with things without waiting to be given a detailed brief.
What you'll be responsible for
We've grouped the role around three areas: Growth, Brand and Customer Experience. You won’t need to have experience in everything, we are looking for someone who is willing to take responsibility and be hands-on across Avalon’s marketing activities, whether they are doing it themselves, managing a freelancer or agency, or learning something new.
Growth
A big part of your role will be working out how we can grow our sales pipeline by generating more qualified leads.
You'll help build a proper lead-generation plan, test different approaches and learn from the results.
We already have ideas and activity underway, but we want you to help bring it together, measure it and decide where we should put our time and money.
These activities will include SEO, AEO, PPC, Email & Direct Mail, telemarketing, tradeshows and industry events. You'll also take ownership of how we use our CRM and ensure it becomes a central resource to drive growth.
We attend trade shows, exhibitions and industry events throughout the year and you'll take responsibility for making the most of them.
You'll coordinate stand design and materials, plan activity before and after each event, organise lead capture and follow-up, and attend events with the team.
There will occasionally be overnight stays as part of this.
Brand
We want people to understand what makes Avalon different.
That means getting under the skin of the business: spending time with the team, visiting our sites, talking to customers and understanding our technology, our history and the thinking behind the way we do things.
From there, you'll help us tell that story clearly and consistently.
You'll take ownership of our brand and how it is used across the business, including our tone of voice and messaging in all formats, both digital and physical.
Some of this you'll create yourself. At other times you'll work with designers, developers, printers and other specialists.
Customer Experience
Our brand is experienced by thousands of people using the car parks we manage, so you'll also have a hand in how we communicate with them.
You'll look at all of our customer touchpoints including signage, online listings, emails, our payment systems and help us spot places where communication could be clearer, friendlier or simply work better and be constantly striving for improvement in everything we do.
Who we're looking for
You'll probably have around 2–5 years' marketing experience, either in-house or with an agency. B2B experience would be useful, although we're more interested in what you've done, how you think and the attitude you'll bring.
A good grounding across marketing, lots of energy, evidence that you've delivered things yourself and an ability to learn quickly are much more important to us. You'll need to be someone who:
· Takes initiative and is comfortable working independently
· Is curious and wants to understand how the whole business works
· Can come up with ideas and then actually make them happen
· Writes clearly and naturally
· Has a good eye for visual content
· Is comfortable with data and measuring results
· Understands the main digital marketing channels
· Is interested in AI and how new tools can improve marketing and customer experience
· Can manage several projects without losing track of the detail
· Is confident enough to share ideas and challenge existing thinking
· Enjoys working with other people and wants to become part of a small team with huge opportunities for personal development and progression.
A driving licence would be useful as there will be opportunities to visit our car parks, customers and events around the UK.
Why this role might suit you
Because we're a team of ten, you won't be several layers removed from the decisions.
You'll work directly with a founding director and our part-time CMO. You'll be able to suggest an idea, make a case for it and, where it makes sense, get on and try it.
There is plenty already happening, but there's also so much that we could do better. We're looking for someone who enjoys spotting those opportunities and making things happen
As Avalon grows, we'd like this role to grow too. For the right person, there is a clear opportunity to take increasing responsibility for marketing and growth and, over time, build a team around you.

· Hybrid working – 3 days a week with the team in Sevenoaks, with flexibility over where you work for the other 2
