About the role
At Balfour Beatty, we're delivering some of the UK's most complex and critical infrastructure projects. We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support the successful delivery of HVAC and mechanical works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and right first time. Based within a highly regulated environment, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in driving quality standards on major projects.
As a Quality Engineer, you will oversee and maintain quality procedures and records in line with project requirements, supporting the Quality Manager to ensure compliance with regulatory and client requirements. You will be instrumental in promoting a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence across the project lifecycle.
What you'll be doing
- Implement and maintain quality systems in accordance with the Business Management System (BMS), including QA/QC procedures, document control and risk management.
- Produce Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and maintain project Quality Plans.
- Manage quality records and ensure documentation is maintained accurately and efficiently.
- Support delivery teams to achieve a "Right First Time" approach and client specification compliance.
- Monitor and update quality schedules in line with project delivery programmes. Support audits, inspections and certification activities, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Produce quality reports and performance metrics to support project and business objectives.
- Assist with training, coaching and developing quality awareness across construction teams.
- Utilise platforms including BIM360, SharePoint and Ffenics to support project delivery.
Who we're looking for
- Professionally qualified in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in quality assurance within the mechanical or nuclear industry.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems and quality assurance principles.
- Experience developing and monitoring quality management frameworks and KPIs.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to build effective relationships with project teams, stakeholders and senior management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to obtain the required security clearances.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own workload.
- High levels of integrity and professionalism.
- Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
