Location: Working across all Northcare Glasgow and East Kilbride Care Homes
Annual Salary: £50,000
Working Hours: Full Time Position, 5 days per week, every 2nd weekend off
We are looking for a passionate and reliable Chef to join our friendly care home team. You will play an important role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals that support the health and wellbeing of our residents.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking fresh meals, understands dietary requirements, and wants a better work-life balance than traditional hospitality environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook fresh nutritious meals for residents daily
- Home baking to high standards: Celebration cakes, deserts & sweet snacks
- Cater for specialist diets including Allergens & intolerances, IDDSI texture diets, Diabetic, food fortification, religious requirements and more.
- Prepare and execute fine dining main course & desserts for private dining events within the care home to the highest standards
- Manage all kitchen duties during head chefs absence
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- Manage stock rotation, ordering, and portion control
- Ability to work within budgets
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations
- Lead, motivate and supervise direct staff
- Work closely with care staff to meet residents’ individual dietary needs
- Create varied menus that residents enjoy, including theme menu’s & events.
Requirements
- Previous fine dining experience, catering in restaurants, hotels and events.
(Care home chef experience would be desired)
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum requirement)
- Good understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements for older adults
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, organised, and compassionate approach
