Job Description: We are looking for friendly, reliable and hardworking individual to join our growing and established, BAKER & BAKER NPD team.
At our Daventry site, we make cakes and tray bakes, which you may have bought in the supermarkets or eaten whilst visiting leading coffee shops. The role involves working on the production line and ensuring that products are made and packaged to meet Customer requirements, following Health & Safety and food specification instructions.
BAKER & BAKER is a European leader in the bakery convenience segment, with an annual turnover of €400 and operating across 12 sites in seven countries.
Purpose of the Role:
To develop New Products from concept through to launch, in line with the NPD process and Customer Requirements. Projects will include New Product Development, Existing Product Development, Value Engineering and Proactive Innovation.
Result Areas:
Manage the product from Customer Brief through to Customer Submissions:
Work on any required redevelopment and create samples for further submissions.
Support Customer Internal Approval Panels with samples and documentation;
Manage the product through successful Factory Trials
Arrange and conduct all Factory Trials, supporting colleagues where necessary; Factory Trials include both product and packing.
Utilise SAP to enable Trials to progress
Manage the product through a successful Pre-Production and Launch
Compile all Pre-Launch and Launch
Additional Accountabilities Attention to detail with a key competency of system based computer literacy; Support the delivery of specific projects work related to customer or company; Maintain a current knowledge of professional technical practices, development and standards; Have an understanding of your customers product range and also of the market; Keep updated on Customer Policies to deliver products for submission ‘Right First Time’ To demonstrate commitment to the food safety and quality culture activities at site, alongside the values of our business
You will maintain and develop optimum health and safety, hygiene and QA practices within the kitchen. Ensure good levels of GMP at all times, thus making sure that the kitchen area meets all technical requirements of the business, including BRC and PPC standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree Level/HND, preferably Masters in Food Science , Bakery Science or Chemistry (or equivalent)
Experience in a development role in a bakery (or similar products)
An Understanding of Bakery and recipe balance.
An understanding of shelf life through the balance and control of Aw.
Good planning, organisation and communication skills
Ability to work autonomously and with a high degree of initiative
A genuine interest in food.
Computer skills – Word, Powerpoint, Excel
A good working knowledge of HACCP principles.

Pay: £34,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
