Position: HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician / HGV Fitter
Salary: £45,898.41 -£50,459.84 per year

Overview
We are direct employer, seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).
This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise a broad range of mechanical, electrical, and fabrication skills within a dynamic environment. Candidates should possess strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience with various tools, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance and brake test on HGV vehicles.
- Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams, ensuring accurate repairs.
- Perform mechanical repairs including welding, fabrication, soldering, and assembly of vehicle components.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to repair and maintain vehicles such as excavators and forklifts.
- Repair electrical systems within vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Carry out heavy lifting tasks safely when handling parts or equipment.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.
- Assist with the installation or modification of vehicle components as required.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and organisational policies.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with colleagues and clients regarding repair status.
Experience
- Proven experience as an HGV mechanic or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical wiring, schematics, welding techniques, fabrication processes, and equipment repair.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and diagnostic machinery.
- Experience working with heavy machinery such as excavators or forklifts is desirable.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced environment requiring heavy lifting and physical endurance is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with a customer-focused approach are essential for success in this role. HGV Mechanic Requirements:
- Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic and hold a NVQ Level 3 or similar.
