About the Role
As Deputy Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in the effective day-to-day running of the nursery. Working closely with the Nursery Manager, you will support operational delivery, ensure full regulatory compliance, and lead the team to deliver high-quality Early Years education and care.
You will also step into the Manager role when required, providing continuity, stability, and strong leadership to support the ongoing success of the setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Nursery Manager across all aspects of leadership, operations, and compliance
- Lead, mentor, and motivate Early Years Practitioners to deliver consistently high standards of care and education
- Ensure full compliance with the EYFS, safeguarding requirements, Ofsted standards, and health & safety legislation
- Oversee curriculum planning and contribute to engaging, high-quality learning experiences
- Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development to support staff performance and retention
- Build strong, professional relationships with parents, carers, and external partners
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for all children
- Support budgeting, staff rotas, recruitment, and general day-to-day management duties
About You
You are an enthusiastic and approachable leader with a genuine passion for Early Years education and developing high-performing teams.
Essential requirements:
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years (Level 4 or Level 5 desirable)
- Proven supervisory or leadership experience within an Early Years setting
- Strong working knowledge of the EYFS framework, safeguarding, and Ofsted requirements
- Excellent communication, organisational, and people-management skills
- A proactive, solution-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement
Desirable:
- Experience supporting or leading Ofsted inspections
- Familiarity with nursery management systems and compliance processes
