Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Groundsman/Maintenance worker to join our team. This role involves maintaining and enhancing outdoor landscapes, ensuring the safety and functionality of grounds and facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in horticulture, landscape maintenance, and general maintenance tasks, with the ability to operate various power tools and machinery. Duties
- Conduct regular landscape maintenance including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to uphold aesthetic standards.
- Operate mechanical equipment such as excavators and other specialised machinery safely and effectively.
- Maintain irrigation systems, ensuring proper functioning and timely repairs to optimise water efficiency.
- Use hand tools and power tools for tasks such as digging, trimming, and installing fixtures or structures.
- Perform routine maintenance on groundskeeping equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with construction or renovation projects related to landscaping or site improvements.
- Monitor grounds for safety hazards and carry out necessary repairs or adjustments promptly.
- Support general maintenance duties around the site including cleaning, repairs, and minor building works as required.
Skills
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance or gardening with a solid understanding of horticulture principles.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to operating machinery like excavators and power tools safely.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as shovels, pruners, hedge trimmers, and other gardening equipment.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems installation and repair techniques.
- Experience in construction or general maintenance work is advantageous.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure grounds are kept in excellent condition.
- Good physical fitness with the capacity to perform manual tasks involving lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
