Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Workshop Controller to join our dynamic, high-volume service department. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, taking full ownership of workflow management, staff coordination, and vehicle turnaround times. This role requires a proactive individual who can maintain close communication with the After-Sales department, ensuring all updates regarding vehicle progress, delays, and completion times are clearly conveyed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping all relevant departments informed of each vehicle’s status — from initial check-in through diagnosis, parts availability, repair stages, and final quality checks. By providing accurate and timely updates, you will help streamline inter-departmental operations, support customer satisfaction goals, and ensure the workshop runs with maximum efficiency. Additionally, you will maintain strong cost control measures across labour and parts usage, while delivering the highest standards of service and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily workshop operations and maintain an organised, efficient workflow
- Manage and support technicians and workshop staff
- Prioritise and schedule jobs to maximise productivity and meet turnaround targets
- Monitor job progression, ensuring quality and timely completion of all work
- Uphold cost control measures across labour, parts, and workshop resources
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding vehicle status
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company standards
- Drive continuous improvement in workshop efficiency and performance
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Workshop Controller, Workshop Supervisor, or similar role in an automotive environment
- Strong leadership and team-management abilities
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage high volumes of vehicles
- Solid understanding of cost control and workshop KPIs
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Technical knowledge of automotive repair processes
