We are looking for a compassionate SEND informed teacher to work with our Year 8 daughter, A who does not attend school but has an EOTAS package for her education. A is a very bright, creative child who has a great sense of humour and is looking for a kind, patient and fun tutor who can support her to access the child-led and hands-on education that she needs.
Aenjoys reading, Lego building, art, puzzles, Nintendo Switch and she adores her autism assistance dog who is a key part of her day-to-day life.
What we’re looking for:
Creative and alterative teaching methods: A benefits from an interest-led learning approach. In particular a project-based learning approach so a tutor will be expected to plan activities in line with A’sinterests to extend her knowledge and understanding.
Effective communication and relationship skills: The role will initially involve working with A at home to build a safe and secure relationship with her working in a child-led way to recognise learning opportunities and develop these with A.
Flexible working arrangements: The role may involve taking Aout into the community and supporting A whilst she attends provisions like animal therapy/cookery/art class etc.
Collaborative working: Your role will include working within an established, supportive, multi-disciplinary team which currently includes therapists. This will include report writing, attending the EHCP annual review and liaising with other team members as required.
Essential experience: OTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent. Demonstrate neuro-affirming practice. An understanding of autism essential. Knowledge of PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance), ADHD and childhood trauma beneficial.
Other: Female applicants only. Enhanced DBS essential. Own vehicle required and relevant insurance. Based in West Northants (NN7 3). (2 references will be required for successful candidate).
Wages: £50 per hour. This is a self-employed role so you would be responsible for pensions etc.
Hours: Term time only (38 weeks). Flexible working days/hours for the right candidate. Initially for 10 hours a week but option to increase to 22 hours a week.
