Job Description
As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple civil engineering, groundworks and highway projects from pre-start through to completion. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, typically valued between £50,000 and £750,000.
- Plan, programme and coordinate projects to achieve agreed timescales and budgets.
- Lead and support Site Managers, Engineers and site teams.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Manage NEC4 contracts, including Early Warning Notices (EWNs), Compensation Events (CEs), programme management and contractual compliance.
- Monitor project costs, identify risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Procure and manage subcontractors and suppliers.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, consultants and stakeholders, maintaining strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend progress meetings and provide regular updates on programme, cost and performance.
- Oversee project documentation, reporting and record keeping.
- Identify and secure opportunities for additional works where appropriate.
- Ensure projects are completed to the required specification and successfully handed over to the client.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within civil engineering, groundworks or highways.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC4 contracts and contract administration.
- Experience delivering Section 278 highway works and local authority projects.
- Experience managing projects within live school environments.
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management skills.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- SMSTS.
- CSCS Manager Card.
- First Aid at Work.
Pay: £55,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
