Security Officer – Front of House
Location: Portsmouth, PO1
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off | 19:00 – 07:00
Average Hours: 42 hours per week

We are currently recruiting Security Officers to join our team at a modern student accommodation site in Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for professional, customer-focused security officers who enjoy working in a front-of-house environment while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents, visitors and staff.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Front of House Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment while delivering exceptional customer service. Your duties will include:
- Providing a professional and welcoming front-of-house presence.
- Managing the reception area and assisting residents, visitors and contractors.
- Responding to fire alarm and intruder alarm activations.
- Carrying out regular internal and external security patrols.
- Reporting maintenance issues and health & safety concerns.
- Responding to incidents and call-outs as required.
- Completing incident reports and site documentation accurately.
- Assisting with waste management and keeping communal areas clean and presentable, including litter picking where required.
- Ensuring all site procedures and security protocols are followed.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A valid SIA Security Guard (SG) or Door Supervisor (DS) Licence.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A professional and approachable manner.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Good IT skills and confidence using computer systems.
- A minimum of 5 years' checkable employment history.
- Previous corporate or residential security experience (preferred).
- The ability to work independently and occasionally as a lone worker.
