We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and compassionate therapy assistant with a passion for helping adults to live better with the management of complex and chronic pain conditions.
The Wirral Chronic Pain Service is a multidisciplinary team including doctors, physiotherapists, psychology team, an occupational therapist and a pharmacist. You will work within the pain service to support the smooth running of the team by performing a range of clinical, clerical, administrational, housekeeping and departmental tasks.
The role will involve working directly with the pain service team members and require confidence in delivering delegated management plans and activities with an individual caseload and also as part of our group sessions.
You will also be involved in an exciting development working with third sector and volunteer groups. We welcome applications from effective communicators as this post will involve working closely with multidisciplinary team members, service users and community organisations.
To communicate effectively within the Therapy Team and other members of the multidisciplinary Team.
To establish a rapport with patients in order to help with gain their compliance with the exercise programmes.
To work under the guidance of the Qualified Therapy staff.
To be a caring and responsible member of the Allied Health Professions’ service and to contribute the Directorate activities.
To support the Therapists in delivering patient focussed care by undertaking a range of clinical, clerical and admin, and housekeeping tasks.
To organise and prioritise workload, under the guidance of a qualified Therapist.
To be guided by standard operational procedures, protocol and guidelines and to receive regular instruction from qualified Therapists.
To prepare the patient and environment for the required therapeutic activity.
If appropriate, helping the patient dress/undress, ensuring the patients personal care needs are met, transporting the patients to the treatment area.
To prepare the environment for the therapy session – including clearing the area of obstructions, preparing equipment e.g. treadmill, static bicycles etc manoeuvring hoists, and other therapy equipment.
To assist the Therapist during a treatment session/ intervention.
To work with the Therapist to assist in treatment sessions, when required, in a wide range of activities including exercises and practising activities of daily living, accompanying the Therapist on home visits etc.
