Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Mill Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines to produce high-quality precision components. In addition to machine operation, the role requires the ability to design and develop tooling, fixtures, and work-holding solutions using AutoCAD and SolidWorks to support efficient and accurate manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
· Set up, operate, and monitor CNC milling machines to manufacture components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
· Perform machine offsets, tool changes, and program adjustments as required.
· Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and manufacturing documentation.
· Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment to ensure compliance with quality standards and tolerances.
· Design and develop tooling, fixtures, jigs, and work-holding solutions using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
· Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and reduce setup times.
· Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, and speeds for various materials and machining operations.
· Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to maintain production efficiency.
· Conduct routine machine maintenance and report any equipment faults or breakdowns.
· Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
· Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
· Any other duties, as demanded by the job role and as requested by your line manager as and when required.
Required Skills and Experience
· Proven experience operating and setting up CNC milling machines.
· Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
· Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
· Experience using AutoCAD and SolidWorks for tooling and fixture design.
· Competent in the use of precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
· Ability to troubleshoot machining and tooling issues effectively.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
· Apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
· Experience with CAM software and CNC programming.
· Experience working within ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
Working Conditions
· Monday to Thursday 6am to 4pm.
· Manufacturing workshop environment with appropriate PPE requirements.
Pay: Up to £37,000.00 per year
