Accounts Assistant (Purchase Ledger)

Winfield Engineering Ltd and Red Rhino Crushers (UK) Ltd are two successful, family-owned manufacturing businesses based in Grantham. With nearly 60 years of engineering excellence, Winfield Engineering is a leading subcontract engineering company serving some of the UK's largest manufacturers, while Red Rhino Crushers designs and manufactures market-leading compact crushing and screening equipment exported around the world.
We are looking for a reliable and organised Accounts Assistant to join our friendly finance team. This is a varied role with a primary focus on Purchase Ledger, supporting both businesses and helping to ensure our accounts function runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing high volumes of purchase invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Matching purchase invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving any discrepancies.
- Preparing supplier payment runs.
- Setting up new supplier accounts and maintaining accurate records.
- Liaising with suppliers and internal departments regarding invoice queries.
- Assisting with month-end purchase ledger procedures.
- Supporting the wider accounts team with general administrative duties.
- Filing and maintaining financial records in line with company procedures.
About You:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience within a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Assistant role.
- Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Be confident using Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Be able to manage their workload and meet deadlines.
- Be trustworthy, reliable and enjoy working as part of a team.
Experience within a manufacturing environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
