We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. This is an opportunity to manage your own portfolio of clients, work closely with business owners, and become a trusted part of their journey.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records and keeping financial data up to date
- Building strong, trusted relationships with clients and acting as a key point of contact
- Processing invoices, payments, receipts and expenses
- Completing bank reconciliations and managing accounts payable and receivable
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Supporting clients with HMRC requirements and compliance obligations
- Assisting with the preparation of management reports and year-end accounts
- Managing client deadlines effectively and ensuring work is completed to a high standard
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and proactively support clients' needs
What We're Looking For
We're interested in people who combine technical expertise with excellent client service.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice or multi-client environment
- Experience using Xero, FreeAgent or similar cloud accounting software
- Experience working with small businesses, sole traders and limited companies
- The ability to prepare accounts to draft stage
- A solid understanding of VAT and bookkeeping principles
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and client deadlines
- A collaborative, positive and professional approach
- Not essential but already studying or plans to study a relevant qualification
