We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic and friendly individual to join us on Saturday mornings and help make our Ducklings Dance Sessions a magical experience for our younger dancers.
Location: Cambourne
Hours: Saturdays, 10:30am–12:30pm
Position: Part-time, Saturday mornings
Age group: Children aged 3–6 years
You do not need any dance experience for this role - as the Dance Teacher will focus on delivering the dance content and teaching the different genres. Your focus will be on the children – helping everything around the teaching run smoothly and making sure our little dancers have a wonderful experience. Your main role is to help with the smooth running of the sessions - helping little ones feel happy, confident, engaged and enjoying their morning of dance, while also managing the sign-in and sign-out, on-the-day parent communication and more.
This could be a lovely Saturday position for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Early Years Practitioner, Nursery Practitioner, Childminder, childcare professional or similar who loves working with young children.
This role will involve duties such as;
- Helping set up the space ready for the morning’s sessions
- Welcoming children and managing the drop-off and pick-up sign-in/out
- Helping children prepare for their class
- Keeping children engaged, motivated and involved
- Supporting children who may need a little extra reassurance or encouragement
- Helping manage transitions between activities and classes
- Accompanying children on toilet trips where required
- Communicating warmly and professionally with parents
- Helping maintain a safe, positive and nurturing environment
- Tidying and packing away at the end of the morning
- Providing general practical support to the Dance Teacher throughout the sessions
About You
We’re particularly looking for someone who:
- Is fantastic with young children and genuinely enjoys working with this age group
- Has substantial professional experience working with children – ideally 10+ years
- Has experience in childcare, Early Years, education, teaching assistance or a similar setting
- Is patient, caring, positive and encouraging
- Is confident communicating with both young children and parents
- Is reliable, organised and happy to get stuck in
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Works well as part of a small team
- Can commit reliably to Saturday mornings during term-time (excluding main school holidays - Christmas, Easter & Summer)
Dance experience is not required, as you will not be responsible for teaching dance.
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS (linked to the update service)
- First Aid Certified, or willing to undertake appropriate First Aid training
- Reliable availability on Saturdays from 10:30am–12:30pm
- Ability to travel reliably to Cambourne
