Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Tenancy Support Worker to assist individuals and families in maintaining their tenancies and promoting sustainable living. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing practical support, guidance, and advocacy to tenants facing various challenges. Duties
- Offer personalised support to tenants, including assistance with rent payments, budgeting, and accessing community resources
- Conduct regular visits to tenants' homes to assess their needs and provide ongoing support
- Assist tenants in resolving tenancy-related issues through negotiation with landlords or housing authorities
- Maintain accurate records of support provided using Yardi or similar property management software
- Advocate on behalf of tenants to secure appropriate services and resolve disputes or concerns
- Organise and facilitate tenant engagement activities aimed at promoting community cohesion and well-being
- Provide guidance on tenancy rights and responsibilities, ensuring tenants are well-informed
- Collaborate with external agencies such as social services, mental health teams, or employment services to coordinate holistic support plans
- Monitor tenant progress and adjust support strategies accordingly to promote independence
Experience
- Previous experience working within housing support, social care, or community outreach is desirable
- Knowledge of tenancy law, rights, and responsibilities is advantageous
- Proficiency in using Yardi or similar property management systems is preferred
- Strong negotiation skills are essential for mediating between tenants and landlords effectively
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Compassionate approach with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
