About the Role
White Rocks Farm College is a small specialist work-based learning centre offering vocational BTEC courses for students who have additional educational needs. We are a specialist 16+ Vocational College, with a 19+ unit for students who are not yet ready for work. We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutor to start in September. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching in English and Maths to learners working towards land-based qualifications.
This role is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting learners in developing the essential literacy and numeracy skills needed for independence, employment, and everyday life.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Functional Skills lessons (Entry Level to Level 2 where appropriate)
- Support learners with a range of additional needs, adapting teaching to meet individual learning styles.
- Assess learner progress and maintain accurate records in line with awarding body requirements.
- Prepare learners for assessments, ensuring they are confident and well-supported.
- Contribute to EHCP outcomes and personalised learning plans where applicable.
- Provide ongoing feedback to learners to support progress and motivation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, following safeguarding and organisational policies.
Person Specification
Essential
- A recognised teaching or training qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training, or equivalent)
- Experience delivering Functional Skills or Maths/English to young people or adults.
- Good understanding of differentiation and supporting learners with additional needs.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners.
Desirable
- Experience working in a SEND or alternative education setting.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and person-centred planning
- Experience preparing learners for Functional Skills assessments.
- Relevant subject qualification in English and/or Maths

Pay: £13.50-£22.43 per hour
