The Role
We are currently looking for a Prep Chef to join our prepared fruit and vegetable team at the Caterprep site in Penrith. You will play a key role in preparing high-quality fruit and vegetables for caterers across Cumbria, Scotland, and the North of England.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare stocked and made-to-order product lines to a high standard
- Carry out high-volume vegetable and fruit preparation using strong knife skills
- Slice, dice, peel, and chop produce quickly and accurately to required specifications
- Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation across all product lines
- Carry out quality checks and ensure all products meet company standards
- Operate machinery where required to support production volumes
- Follow stock rotation procedures and handle stock correctly
- Ensure all health, safety, and food hygiene standards are met at all times
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace (“clean as you go” policy)
- Assist with packing and labelling of finished products when required
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Work efficiently to meet daily targets and deadlines
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Prep Chef or in a fast-paced food production/kitchen environment is essential
- Strong knife skills and the ability to prepare vegetables quickly and safely is essential
- Good knowledge of fresh produce and food preparation techniques
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment
- Confident working both independently and as part of a team
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to support others
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude

Schedule: Monday to Friday rota, 8.00am starts required, flexible shift availability and finish times are essential
Location: Based out of Gillwilly Industrial Estate, Penrith, CA11 9FB (please only apply if you live within a commutable distance and can attend the workplace each day)

Pay: £13.66 per hour
