About Smileworld Salon
Smileworld Salon is on Milton Road, Cambridge and offers braiding, Barbing, nails and lash services.
We're building a professional, welcoming salon where clients know they can expect consistent quality and excellent service regardless of which member of our team they book with. We're looking for stylists who want to grow with us.
About the role
As a Hair Braider at Smileworld, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality braiding services while creating an experience that makes clients want to come back.
Your success isn't measured only by the number of appointments you complete, we reward you for building lasting client relationships.
You'll earn:
- £13.00 per hour
- 5% commission on new business you personally bring to Smileworld
- 2% commission every time an eligible client rebooks and completes another appointment with you
- Monthly performance bonuses when salon targets are achieved
This means the stronger your client relationships become, the more opportunity you have to increase your earnings.
Example
If you bring a new client to Smileworld who spends £100, you earn £5 commission on that new business. If that client returns and spends another £100 with you, you earn £2 rebooking commission. If they continue returning, you continue earning the applicable rebooking commission on their qualifying appointments.
What you'll do:
Hair & technical services
- Deliver cornrows, feed-in braids, Fulani/tribal braids, Stitch braids, Senegalese twists, mini twists, sew-ins and crochet styles
- Work to a consistently neat, professional and tension-safe standard
- Consult with clients about their desired style, hair type, suitability and maintenance
- Prepare hair where required, including washing, detangling and blow-drying
- Recommend appropriate aftercare and relevant add-on services
- Maintain consistent quality across every appointment
- Work efficiently so appointments remain on schedule
Salon Hygiene & Team Responsibilities
- Clean and reset your workstation thoroughly between clients
- Proactively keep your workspace clean, organised and presentable throughout the day
- Clean up hair, packaging and other waste promptly rather than leaving it for another team member
- Clean and sanitise tools and equipment in accordance with Smileworld's hygiene procedures
- Maintain clean and hygienic shared areas of the salon
- Assist with general salon cleaning when required, including floors, surfaces, mirrors and client areas
- Restock products and consumables when supplies are running low
- Report hygiene, equipment or stock issues promptly
- Take shared responsibility for keeping Smileworld clean, safe and welcoming for clients and colleagues
Client experience
- Create a warm, professional experience for every client
- Build genuine relationships with clients
- Encourage appropriate rebooking and future appointments
- Provide aftercare advice
- Identify opportunities to recommend suitable products or additional services
- Handle client questions and concerns professionally

- Previous salon experience
- Existing client base or portfolio

This is an employee position, not a chair-rental or self-employed role, we provide the salon environment, equipment, products and booking infrastructure so that you can focus on what you do best: creating excellent hair and building great client relationships.
Working pattern
This is a full-time position.
We understand that flexibility matters, so we'll agree your regular working pattern with you as part of the hiring process.
The role will include weekend and evening availability, depending on the salon's staffing and client demand.
Interview process
Paid skills assessment
Shortlisted candidates will complete a paid practical skills assessment at the salon.
You'll demonstrate at least two braiding techniques from the services listed above on a model, working within an agreed time limit.
