NEW ROLE | GOVERNANCE & ASSURANCE MANAGER | SOUTH WALES | £55,660–£60K + EXCELLENT BENEFITS and Pension
I'm really excited to be recruiting for a newly created Governance & Assurance Manager role with a fantastic organisation in South Wales.
Following a recent restructure, this is a brand-new and pivotal appointment, joining the Senior Leadership Team at a genuinely exciting time for the organisation.
And whilst the title says Governance & Assurance, this role is about so much more than governance.
At its heart, I'm looking for a really strong leader of people.
Someone who can bring different specialist teams together, provide clarity and direction, build confidence, challenge when needed and create a culture where people feel supported, engaged and excited about where the organisation is going.
You'll have a broad and interesting remit, with responsibility for areas including Governance & Assurance, QHSE, ICT, Sustainability, Data, Facilities and Fleet.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, developing and engaging a multi-disciplinary team
- Developing and strengthening governance, assurance and risk frameworks
- Overseeing QHSE, sustainability, ICT and data governance activities
- Driving continuous improvement and change across corporate services
- Managing budgets and resources and ensuring value for money
- Providing advice, challenge and support to the Senior Leadership Team
- Building strong relationships across the organisation and with key external stakeholders, including Welsh Government
- Leading key projects and programmes and helping different functions work more effectively together
- Deputising for the Strategic Manager when required
This person will have a genuine voice at the table and the opportunity to influence the future direction of the organisation.
It's a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys leading through change, developing people and improving how things are done – and who wants the opportunity to shape a newly created role rather than simply inherit "the way we've always done it."
And importantly, it's a great place to work – friendly, supportive and progressive, with a real commitment to its people, training and development and some very exciting times ahead.

I'm keen to speak to experienced leaders from Governance, Assurance, Risk, Compliance, QHSE, Corporate Services, ICT/Data or similarly complex environments.
You don't necessarily need to have done everything within the remit.
What you do need is strong leadership capability, credibility, the ability to influence at senior level and, most importantly, the ability to bring people with you.
If that sounds like you – or someone immediately springs to mind – drop me a message for a confidential conversation.
Sometimes the best opportunities come when an organisation is changing and you get the chance to help shape what it becomes. This is one of those roles.
