Job description
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated apprentice to join the team and undertake an animal care level 2 apprenticeship. The successful applicant will be on probation until October when the apprenticeship will begin, therefore hours worked until this time will be paid at the applicable minimum wage.
An exciting opportunity to learn or develop skills and knowledge in animal care. Working in all aspects of our free running dog daycare and kennel business.
The apprenticeship is a 25/30hr contract, which includes 6hrs study time a week. Extra hours will be available and will be paid at the applicable minimum wage, not the apprentice rate.

Shifts will vary to suit business needs and will include weekend working.
Your day to day duties will include, but not limited to:
- Maintaining a positive and high standard of animal welfare
- Upkeep of animal hygiene
- Maintaining industry standards
- Maintaining a positive and safe environment for animals
- Monitoring animal interaction and play
- Grooming
- Feeding and administering medicine.
- General housekeeping
- Interacting with dog owners, providing them with updates on their pets'activities and behaviours throughout the day.

Things to consider
- Working outside in all weathers/temperatures
- Confident with all breeds of dog
- Fit and active as the job is a physical job
- A guaranteed lift or own transport is essential as we are not on a public transport route
- Being confident working on your own is essential.
- Weekend and bank holiday working is essential and a core part of this role.
Training
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Animal Care & Welfare Apprenticeship Standard.
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
