Job Purpose
The Domiciliary Care Worker is responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals living in their own homes. The role aims to promote independence, dignity, choice, and wellbeing while ensuring that all care is delivered in accordance with the individual’s care plan, company policies, and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide personal care, including assistance with washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
* Support clients with mobility and safe transfers using appropriate equipment where required.
* Assist with medication administration or prompting in accordance with care plans and company procedures.
* Prepare meals and assist with feeding where necessary.
* Support clients with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, shopping, and maintaining a safe living environment.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce social isolation and promote wellbeing.
* Escort clients to appointments or assist with community activities when required.
* Observe and report changes in a client’s physical or mental condition to the appropriate supervisor.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential care records.
* Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns regarding abuse or neglect.
* Adhere to infection prevention and control measures and health and safety requirements.
* Respect client confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries at all times.
* Work flexibly across different locations and shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays where required.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
* Compassionate, caring, and respectful approach towards vulnerable individuals.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills to maintain care documentation.
* Willingness to undertake mandatory training and continuous professional development.
* Full UK driving licence or ability to travel reliably between client locations.
* Commitment to delivering person-centred care in accordance with company standards.
Desirable Requirements
* Previous experience in domiciliary care or health and social care.
* NVQ/QCF Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards one).
* Experience supporting elderly individuals or adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, dementia, or mental health needs.
Working Conditions
* Community-based role involving travel between clients’ homes.
* Flexible shift pattern including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by service needs.
* Mileage reimbursement of £0.45 per mile for authorised travel between client visits.
* Hourly pay rate of £14.00 per hour.
Reporting To
The Domiciliary Care Worker reports directly to the Care Coordinator, Registered Manager, or other designated supervisor within Deway Care Limited.
